I made it to Madrid!

Well I'm super jet-lagged but I made it to Complutense. I got here just before 9 am when check-in started after an interesting cab ride with a driver who kept laughing at my spanish. I was greeted by an old woman dressed in a full white suit (jacket included - it is over 90 degrees here!) smoking a cigarette on the front patio... it has been about six hours since I checked in and it looks like that is what she spends most of her time doing. I have my own room on the third (and top) story of one of the dorms; the whole hall is filled with EAP girls all from the UC's. I've already had my first electronic mishap; I plugged my hair dryer into the transformer and into the wall and it exploded :( I went exploring with the girl who lives next door to me and we found a Corte Ingles (large shopping mall!) within walking distance and I bought a new hair dryer, an adapter for my computer charger (don't want to fry my computer!), and a copy of gossip girl in spanish. I have realized that my spanish abilities are pretty limited; luckily most of the people I've met in the program are at about the same level. They also sell all the harry potters in spanish and I think once I've conqured gossip girl I'll be ready for harry potter. Anyways we don't have anything planned for today so I think me and the rest of the girls (there are maybe 5 boys and 45 girls) are going out for tapas and dancing tonight!
